About the Serendipity Surprise

♠ the ship

The Serendipity Surprise is a brand-new state of the art vessel with fifteen decks and the capacity to house and transport 3,100 guests each voyage. Passengers on the ship have a variety of choices when it comes to staterooms and may choose oceanview or interior rooms, as well as rooms with or without balcony access. The ship travels to various ports throughout the world, and employs talented and dedicated crew members in a variety of areas.

Things to know:
  • The captain of the ship is a mod-controlled NPC named Leonard Wetherwax (PB: David Hyde Pierce), and the cruise director is Carey Shenkman ([info]careyshenkman). The Captain resides in the captain's suite, located near the bridge on deck 5, the Aquamarine deck. Mr. Shenkman lives in cabin 214 with chief security officer Ira Spencer.

  • The drinking age on the ship is 21 in U.S. waters and 18 everywhere else. While not on the ship, employees must respect the legal drinking age of the country they are visiting.

  • Members of the crew are provided three meals a day by the crew cook, which are served in the coral dining room. Crew members are also free to make their own meals or to eat at the various restaurants on board.

  • Crew members live in single and double cabins on Deck 8, the Jade deck. Roommates are assigned randomly and may be reassigned if someone leaves the ship. Roommates must be of the same gender, unless two people who are a couple request to live together. Parents are welcome to have their children living on board, and pets are generally allowed, but on a case by case basis. A list of cabin assignments is here.

  • Employees are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the ship's amenities and attractions when not on duty and to explore all ports of call whenever possible. The various vendors and restaurants on the ship also remain open while the ship is in port, so some employees may be scheduled to work part of that time, and others who choose not to leave the ship are welcome to remain on board.

  • All managers have offices on deck 15, the Topaz deck.

  • The uniforms worn by members of the crew vary from department to department. Those involved in the serving of food or drink wear black pants, white shirts, and black ties. Dancers and other performers wear various costumes. Crew members who work in areas involving sports have a specific uniform tailored to their sports. Crew members who interact with staff on any other basis wear a floral-print Hawaiian style shirt, which is colored with various shades of blue, and khaki shorts. All uniforms bear the company insignia featured at the top of this page.

  • The ship is laid out according to the chart below. Deck one is the topmost deck, and fifteen is the bottom deck. Decks thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen are below the water level, all others are above water. Elevators connect the decks in the center of the ship and escalators are available throughout the ship. There are also public bathrooms on each level.
